こんにちは。高校生のものです。夜分遅く、すみません。「among」と「in」の区別の仕方が時々わかりません。問題集の中で、「She is popular (among , in) the students on the campus.」という問題がありました。自分なりに考えてみたのですが、「the students」という群集を意識しているから、「among」が正解なのもわかるのですが、「in」も「～の間で」という意味で、「生徒の中で」という意味で正しい気がしてしまいます。「in the students」というような表現はありえないのでしょうか？参考書などで他の例文を探してみたら、「Did you see him among the crowd?」「He disappeared among the people in the crowd.」という二つの文章を見つけました。「among」は「3つ以上の間」、「in」は「状況、環境の中で」と参考書にあったので、そう区別しようと思ったのですが、上記の2文は、「crowd」の前が、「in 、among」どちらも使われていて、わからなくなりました。下の例文は、既に「among the people」と、「among」を使っているからなのかな?とも思いました。「among the people」がこの文から消えた場合は、「the crowd」の前は、「among」になるのでしょうか？「in」の「状況、環境の中で」という意味の、「状況、環境」の部分がよくわかっていないのかな？と思います。「students」は人なので、状況、環境には入らないという風に処理すればいいでしょうか？問題集によっては、amongの訳を、「～の中に」と訳しているものも多いので、「among」 と「in」の明確な使い分けを知りたいです。稚拙な質問で申し訳ありませんが、ご回答よろしくお願いいたします。...
